Nazca Lines and Paracas Tour
Itinerary
In the space of two days, you will marvel at the fascinating and mysterious Nazca lines and visit one of the most important ecosystems in the world. The ancient geoglyphs have puzzled scholars and speculators since their discovery in 1927. These mysterious lines in what is called the world’s largest art canvas, take many forms, ranging from simple lines to figures of animals, plants and insects. In the Paracas National Reserve and the Ballestas Islands you will step back in time to see the flora and fauna as it existed long before the march of civilization. You will see sea lions, pelicans, Humboldt penguins and with a little luck a dolphin or whale.
Day 1: Nasca
You will be transferred early in the morning from your hotel in Miraflores to the station where you will take the bus for an early afternoon arrival in Nasca. After having free time to enjoy lunch in one of Nazca’s many wonderful restaurants you will be transferred to the local airport where the Nazca lines flights originate for your flight over the world’s largest art canvas. From an aerial vantage point you will see the ancient drawings of animals, including a monkey, condor and orca, as well as insects, plants and trees. There is even what appears to be a spaceman, adding to the speculation that the Nazca lines have some sort of extraterrestrial origin.
After the flight you will be transferred to the bus station for your journey to Paracas. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel. A free evening will allow you to explore the city and enjoy dining at one of the various outstanding seafood restaurants in this ocean side city.
Overnight: Paracas
Day 2: Paracas
In the morning you will be transferred to your boat for a 2-hour tour of the Ballestas Islands. While not permitted to disembark, the boat will take you close enough to observe sea lions, Humboldt penguins and pelicans in abundance in their natural habitat.
After the morning tour you will have time for lunch before being transferred to the station for your return bus to Lima.
